Position: Software Tester

 

The Software Tester is responsible for testing software applications in accordance with client and internal requirements, using standard software testing practices. Develops test strategies, test plans, use and test cases. Executes testing and provides required reporting. Maintains existing test suites and test tools. Successful applicant will need to acquire an excellent understanding of our applications, will perform a variety of technical, analytical tasks and work in close partnership with teammates from within the QC and other departments, as well as outside service providers.

 

   

Responsibilities:

  • Review project design specifications.
  • Develop test plans, use case and test cases creation based on design specifications.
  • Configure hardware and software as required by test plans.
  • Perform quality control tests to guarantee compliance with functional requirements for English and French language products, including:
    • Install/uninstall testing
    • Graphical user interface, usability testing
    • Documentation testing (online help, readme files, user documentation)
    • Performance/stress testing
    • Localization testing
    • Hardware compatibility testing
    • Software compatibility testing
    • Regression testing
  • Ensure that product defects are logged in the software defect tracking system (Bugzilla) according to the logging guidelines
  • Review all comments on resolved issues as updated by the developers.
  • Resubmit additional comments/reopen closed issues when necessary
  • Retest resolved issues
  • Correspond with developers to provide additional assistance in duplicating issues
  • Document and communicate test results.
  • Actively contribute to product and process improvements
  • Participate in product direction/design discussions.
  • Work with product management, product development, and support teams
  • Interact with clients.
  • Work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Undertake other tasks as defined by Team Lead.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in business or computer science, or equivalent post-secondary credentials.
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years working knowledge of Web Development Life Cycle in development, testing and quality assurance of applications using Java, .net, HTML, JavaScript and Flash.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and database testing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge and experienced in tracking problems and defects.
  • Strong, independent Team player and able to take initiative in a fast pace environment.
  • Excellent ability to quickly grasp concepts and learn new technologies.
  • Ability to prioritize work.
  • Bilingual (English and French) will be an asset.

Assets:

  • Working knowledge of written and verbal Spanish.
  • Experience with QC testing tools.
  • Understanding of the software development life cycle.
  • Understanding of quality philosophies and principles.
  • Experience with development and testing of Flash web application solutions.
  • Holds a recognized Software Testing Certification, i.e. IIST, SQE, ASQ, QAI.
  • Experience with basic UNIX commands and features
